Chavez said he set up the official site that debuted Tuesday partly to combat people using the Internet to spread falsehoods.
Chavez already speaks many days for hours on television has increasingly turned to the Internet as well. Last month he opened a Twitter account that now lists more than 435,000 followers.
In one of his first blog posts, Chavez praised a meeting with Chinese officials as a "sea of ideas." The site also includes columns by Cuba's Fidel Castro, as well as speeches, photos, videos and a form to make contact confidentially with Chavez's team.
